
NHS SERVICES
The current NHS contract was introduced in 2006 and aimed to simplify the way patient charges are calculated .
Treatment is placed into " BANDS " depending on the complexity of what is required .
The three bands are outlined below.

BAND 1
Band 1 is for simple treatments including :
Examination of teeth
Simple cleaning
X-Rays
BAND 2
Band 2 consists of more complex items such as :
Fillings
Root canal treatment
Extraction of teeth
Treatment of more established gum disease.
BAND 3
Band 3 involves more complicated work usually with the aid of a dental technician.
Items such as :
Crowns
Bridges
Dentures
CHARGES
As of April 2018 charges are as follows:
Band 1 - £21.60
Band 2 - £59.10
Band 3 - £256.50
FREE TREATMENT
Children under the age of 18 receive free treatment on the NHS, as do some categories of adults, such as pregnant woman and mothers with a baby under the age of one year.
Receipt of certain benefits may also exempt you from paying for treatment .
